Teaching awards and grants recognize and fund pedagogical innovation and excellence. The Teaching Awards & Grants Database provides an overview of the divisional and institutional teaching awards and grants available across the University of Toronto as well as major external teaching awards.

Use the database to search for a specific award or grant using the search bar, or filter the database using these eligibility requirements:

Division (including institutional awards).
Award or grant type (i.e., “Early Career” or “Experiential”).
U of T position (i.e., “teaching stream faculty” or “teaching assistant”).

Public Health Sciences Awards for Excellence in Teaching – Early Career

All faculty with SGS appointments in the DLSPH’s Graduate Department of Public Health Sciences are eligible to receive this award. The Early Career award is restricted to teachers in the early stages of their career and within five years of their academic appointment at the DLSPH.

Open to any TA who has worked as a TA for any course delivered for FASE for a minimum of 1 semester & has previously not won this award.

Arts & Science Superior Teaching Awards (Sessional and Graduate)

All candidates must have taught at least one course in the Faculty of Arts & Science (or one administered by an Arts & Science unit) in the preceding academic year. Sessional Lecturer candidates must have been employed to teach at least one course on contracts of less than one year. Candidates should hold a CUPE 3902, Unit III appointment.Graduate Student candidates must have been employed to teach at least one course as a Sole Responsibility Course Instructor. Candidates should be current graduate students appointed in CUPE 3902, Unit I.
